Pores are something that we all have – some have bigger pores while others may have pores that are barely visible. We used a mixture of skin care products to help reduce the look of our pores, clean them out, and refine them. Here at Harley Institute, we have targeted treatments to make sure your pores are always clean and unclogged so your skin is always glowing.
Whether your pores are large or small, you should still know what causes them to clog and how to properly treat them. When it comes to clean and unclogged pores, our #1 recommendation is finding a skin care routine that works for your skin type and your needs. Do you struggle with cystic acne? Do you have dry, acne-prone skin? Determine your skin type and your skin needs before you choose the right skin care routine for you.
Until you figure that out, we want to educate you on some interesting facts about the pores on your face and what they really are.
1. They are hair follicles
Most people think that the pores on your face are just tiny little holes where the sweat comes out and the skin care goes in. But the holes are actually from the tiny hairs that are coming out of your skin.
These hairs are connected to the muscles in your face and pop out through your skin’s barrier – this breakthrough is what we referred to as pores.
2. They are genetic
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your pores are genetic and each person’s pores were made a specific way. While there are so many different skin care products on the market targeted to reduce the appearance of pores, they can’t totally change the look and size of them or the amount of oil or texture they produce.
3. They can change over time
As we grow older, our skin changes and so do our pores. While your pores won’t drastically change as you age, the tone and texture of your skin can change as you get older. If the collagen production in your skin is slowing down, your pores will appear larger. Meaning, if you supplement collagen into your daily diet or routine, you can help your skin from the inside out.
4. They can work too hard
Keeping your face to clean is also not good for your pores. Sometimes your skin can overcompensate for the lack of moisture in it. If you deal with oily skin and are only using products for oily skin, you may want to consider switching some items up so your skin isn’t overdoing it.
